Thank You Fresno! Over the past weekend I was blessed to check out three great performances in Fresno. First this past Friday with the great saxophonist Matt Otto, then on Saturday with my favorite living poet the amazing Saul Williams, and Sunday with one of my favorite musicians in the galaxy, Terence Blanchard. I feel like I am on sensory overload. In addition to that, I haven’t been able to stop checking out the Miles Davis Complete Plugged Nickel Boxed-music at its greatest.
Onward and outwards. On the 27th of July, I will be concluding the second season of the Rhythms of Art Concert Series. The performance will feature my trusty trio with the always-stellar Brian Hamada and Kevin Hill in addition to a few special guests. We will be performing the highlights of this past season, kind of like a “best of ROA” concert. I am still deciding what material we will cover, but am very excited to be playing some of these compositions again.
I haven’t finalized my plans for next year’s season as of yet. I am currently in negotiations with a few different options in terms of my career. As a special thank you to all of the great people that have supported the series this last year, July’s concert will free to all Fresno Art Museum members, KFSR members and JazzFresno members, all other tickets will be just $5.
I have plans this summer to record the trio’s second CD as well as a quintet project I have been toying with. Both recording sessions should be taking place this summer and released within a year’s time. I thank you all for your support and positive comments over the past year. Thank your for making Armen as success as well as season two of Rhythms of Art.
