Armen Nalbandian to Return for Fourth & Final Season
at Fresno Art Museum Concert Series

In a formal announcement made this week, Pianist/composer Armen Nalbandian, in conjunction with his label Blacksmith Brother Music/Noise Boutique, has officially announced his return as Musical Director/Resident Artist of the Fresno Art Museum for his fourth and final season. Since 2004, Nalbandian has curated the museum's “Rhythms of Art” concert series.

The Rhythms of Art is a highly original and innovative program that highlights the museum's exhibited art through original compositions and improvisations by Nalbandian and his guet musicians. Over the past three concert seasons, the program has presented over 110 musicians, 7 benefit concerts, 36 concerts and premiered over 275 original compositions.


Nalbandian's 2007-2008 R.O.A. season will feature 6 concerts of original music in a period from September 2007 to July 2008. Four of the 6 concerts will feature original music inspired by the art, and the remaining two scheduled concerts will showcase additional music from Armen Nalbandian as well as various collaborative meetings. These collaborative meetings, it was announced, will feature some of the world's most important living musicians in a duet format with Nalbandian. Nalbandian stated that the full concert season will be announced in the first week of September.

Movin' On Up

This Friday, August 17th, Armen Nalbandian will be a special guest on the Move On Up radio program hosted by Devoyah Mayo, on 88.1 KFCF/ KPFA at 7pm. Armen will appear at beginning of the program to make a very special announcement.

The Jellyfish Strikes

Jellyfish strikes this Tuesday night! Armen’s new duet project with Tommy Delgado named “Choke the Jellyfish” will be performing live for the very first time at Veni Vidi Vici on this Tuesday the 7th at 10pm. Nalbandian & Delgado have already recorded the debut album earlier this summer and are beginning a string of performances that will extend to the end of 2007. Admission is free! (21 year age requirement)

Two days later, Armen will be heading up to Sacramento, California for a duet performance with Tzadik recording artist, Derek Keller at the Java Lounge. The performance begins at 8pm. Nalbandian & Keller also recorded a duet recording earlier this summer, and will be performing in many different configurations throughout the year. This will be their first duet concert together. All ages welcome, tickets are only $5. and will be available at the door.

Both of the recordings mentioned above will be released this fall through Blacksmith Brother Music\Noise Boutique in addition to a slew of other recordings.
