Participating artists are Noriyuki Haraguchi, Ataru Sato, Tomoko Shioyasu, Masakatsu Takagi and Go Watanabe [up through May 6].
Hermès Arceau Marqueterie de Paille
Presented for the first time on a watch dial, the Hermès Arceau Marqueterie de Paille (literally, “marquetry of straw”) watches reflect a highly complex miniaturisation of the marquetry technique. The blue and black motifs depict two iconic Hermès tie patterns featuring chevrons and tiny squares.

It should be no surprise that I adore Wes Anderson and his films…

It’s rare for me to hear an album that leaves me speechless nowadays. Especially when one leaves me speechless because of how delicate and beautiful it feels to me. Very rare.
Listening to Come Sunday fucked me up. It’s gorgeous. It’s all in the subtleties. Hank Jones left us on May 16th of 2010. We are fortunate to still have Charlie Haden among us. This recording was made 3 months before Hank Jones passed (when he was 91 years old), and 16 years after their first duet album. I’ve written previously about my time with Charlie Haden, perhaps in the near future I’ll share a few of my Hank Jones anecdotes.
Sometimes you need to nourish yourself with sound.
The album comes out in a few days. Listen to it, realize how music can change your life, and find solace in what you do and who you are.
Peace,

New Year in Barcelona
In 1941, American photographer Philippe Halsman met the surrealist artist Salvador Dalí in New York City and they began to collaborate in the late 1940s. The 1948 work Dali Atomicus explores the idea of suspension, depicting three cats flying, water thrown from a bucket, an easel, a footstool and Salvador Dalí all seemingly suspended in mid-air. The title of the photograph is a reference to Dalí’s work Leda Atomica (at that which can be seen in the right of the photograph behind the two cats.) Halsman reported that it took 28 attempts to be satisfied with the result. This is the unretouched version of the photograph that was published in LIFE magazine. In this version the wires suspending the easel and the painting, the hand of the assistant holding the chair and the prop holding up the footstool can still be seen.
“Mistakes are almost always of a sacred nature. Never try to correct them. On the contrary: rationalize them, understand them thoroughly. After that, it will be possible for you to sublimate them.” -Salvador Dali
